About Self Assembled

Who writes this
Self Assembled is the trading name of Andrew Howe, a sole trader based in the United Kingdom. There is no team, no agency behind it, and no outsourced content: one person writes the pack, answers the email, and is accountable for what's in it.
Why the pack exists
Most "how to start a business" material stops at the exciting part — the idea, the name, the logo — and goes quiet on the machinery: registering the thing, getting an address that isn't your front door, taking a payment, sending an email that doesn't land in spam, showing up on a map, not losing everything when a laptop dies.
The pack was written from doing exactly that. Every phase in the guide is a step that had to be worked out and completed for a real UK business — this one included: the registration, the ICO registration, the domain and DNS, the privacy policy, the payment processing, the analytics. The order in the guide is the order things actually needed doing, including the waits that run in the background while you get on with the next thing.
How it's kept honest
- Every figure is marked check-before-you-buy. Government fees, subscription prices and free-tier limits change without notice. The pack tells you where to verify a number rather than asking you to trust a snapshot.
- No affiliate links, no sponsored placements, no kickbacks. The tools named in the pack are named because they were the ones used. Self Assembled earns money in exactly one way: people buy the pack for £39.
- Third-party names are descriptive, not endorsements. Companies House, HMRC, Stripe, Cloudflare, Google and others are their own organisations with their own terms. Nothing here implies they endorse this pack.
- Corrections are welcome. If something in the pack is wrong or out of date, email it in and it gets fixed in the current edition, which buyers can re-download.
What this is not
The pack is educational and practical guidance. It is not legal, tax, accounting, or financial advice, and buying it does not create an adviser–client relationship. For decisions that turn on your specific circumstances — company structure, tax treatment, insurance, contracts — talk to a qualified professional. The pack is designed to make that conversation shorter and cheaper, not to replace it.
